A man has been charged with attempted murder following a suspected domestic violence incident in Sydney’s western suburbs.
Authorities were summoned to a residence on Angelina Crescent in Cabramatta around 11:30 am yesterday after receiving reports of an assault.
At the scene, officers discovered a 51-year-old woman suffering from injuries to her neck, hand, and leg.
She was treated by paramedics and has been taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
A 59-year-old man known to the woman was arrested nearby.
He was taken to Bankstown Hospital for a mental health assessment and was kept under police guard.
He was charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent to murder while he was still in hospital.
A provisional apprehended domestic violence order has been applied for.
He will appear in Parramatta Local Court via a bedside hearing this morning.
