ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – It continues to be a big weekend for Central Florida’s tourism district.

In addition to the grand opening of Epic Universe, Collect-A-Con was also happening just down the street at the Orange County Convention Center.

People came to Collect-A-Con to get their hands on collectibles ranging from classic Pokémon cards to one of the hottest new trends: Labubu.

The Labubu has been taking social media by storm, with part of the fun being the grand reveal of which Labubu is inside the box.

“It’s thrilling—it’s like a moment of childhood wonder,” expressed a Collect-A-Con participant. “They’re so fluffy and reminiscent of children’s teddy bears, just adorable.”

Many people are on the hunt for the rare Labubu which is reportedly in every one out of 72 boxes.

“Each one is priced at $150 and above,” stated Daniel Moreno, the proprietor of Poke’ Man Dan’s Buy, Sell, Trade. “The ones in the ‘Big Into Energies’ collection are currently around $400. They’re black with rainbow teeth, very cute.”

Moreno said everything about the Labubu is an experience and said it’s rare to see a trend like this create such a frenzy.

“It’s not that often; you may have had Funkos before, or the book bags but this is like an extreme level where everybody wants it,” Moreno said.

But it wasn’t just Labubus everyone was after.

Ryan Rosensweig owns C10 Toys and Games in Altamonte Springs. He deals in Funkos and video games, noting that his best sellers at the moment are Game Boy games.

“The trend has definitely changed over the years,” Rosensweig said.

He said it’s great to see people come together to bond over collectibles.

“I mean, at the end of the day, all of this is just for the community,” Rosensweig said. “So the more that we can get to do this better, I think there should be more shows around here that we can actually enjoy together.”
