STARBASE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Following a series of Starship test flights that ended in fiery failures, Elon Musk’s SpaceX is preparing to launch its ninth Starship test flight on Tuesday evening.

As previously reported by Nexstar’s ValleyCentral, SpaceX’s Tuesday launch will focus on Super Heavy, which is said to be a reusable rocket.

The Federal Aviation Administration approved the Starship vehicle for another launch last week. On May 22, the FAA announced that after reviewing “the SpaceX Starship Flight 8 incident,” they concluded SpaceX appropriately addressed the root causes. SpaceX’s investigation in March revealed that a hardware malfunction led to an accidental fuel mix in one of the engines, causing ignition and subsequent explosion, according to SpaceX.

According to SpaceX, the next opportunity to launch from Earth to Mars opens in late 2026.

The SpaceX website states, “SpaceX was founded with the aim of making life multiplanetary and creating the technologies necessary to achieve this vision. SpaceX is developing the Starship launch system, the world’s first completely rapidly reusable rocket, in the newest city of South Texas, Starbase.”

CEO Musk is also expected to speak to his employees and the community Tuesday night about alleged plans to build a human presence on Mars.

The Starship Flight 9 test launch is expected to begin around 7:30 p.m. ET.
