Ex-Employee of Richmond County Marshal's Office Taken into Custody

AUGUSTA, Ga. – An ex-employee of the Richmond County Marshal’s Office has been arrested after being dismissed due to an investigation into alleged wrongdoing.

Sergeant Brittney Brown was let go on May 23. Officials stated that the Marshal’s Office, “became aware of allegations of misconduct concerning Sergeant Brittney Brown” on May 21. They carried out a “comprehensive internal investigation” and concluded that Brown breached Richmond County Marshal’s Office policy.

Brown was arrested by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office on the following charges:

  • Felony Theft by Taking
  • Felony Violation Oath of Office

Police reports indicate that Brown willingly surrendered to the authorities. She was subsequently arrested and processed at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center without any issues.

This case remains under investigation.
