Real Madrid Set To Register Two New Players

Real Madrid can now register two of its new players for the upcoming Club World Cup, as explained by outlets such as Mundo Deportivo.

Though it lifted the UEFA Super Cup and Intercontinental Cup, Madrid failed to land major silverware in 2024/2025 which resulted in head coach Carlo Ancelotti joining Brazil and Xabi Alonso taking the Italian’s place in the Bernabeu dugout.

Leaking 16 goals to its bitter rival across four installments of El Clasico, Madrid knows that it must improve its defense to dethrone FC Barcelona as the domestic treble-winning kings of Spain and has already taken great strides in that respect.

On the weekend that their La Liga campaign was wrapped up, Madrid activated Dean Huijsen’s $67.3 million (£50 million) release clause at Bournemouth and also paid a reported $11.3 million (€10 million) to release Trent-Alexander Arnold from his expiring Liverpool contract earlier than June 30.

This was done so that the right back can play in the upcoming, reimagined and lucrative 32-team Club World Cup that Real Madrid and stars such as Kylian Mbappe have indicated they are going to try and win.

Relative to all this, June 1 is an important date because FIFA registration opens for the competition meaning Huijsen and Alexander-Arnold can officially join Xabi Alonso’s squad that will travel to the United States for the competition which kicks off on June 14.

What is also interesting is that the 14-time Champions League king will able to make what Mundo Deportivo described as “express renewals” of players such as Lucas Vazquez and Luka Modric.

In a similar fashion to Alexander-Arnold’s previous situation at Anfield, the veterans’ deals also expire on June 30, but they’ll be able to compete in the Club World Cup despite their departures from the Spanish capital already being announced.

FIFA explains how “since the contracts of some players will expire in the middle of the competition, the participating clubs will be able to replace and add players in the middle of the tournament for a limited period: from June 27 to July 3, 2025, within a set limit and in accordance with specific restrictions, such as the fact that, on those specific dates, a standard registration period for the club must begin.”

Real Madrid is going to the Club World Cup to win

Real Madrid is clearly serious about winning the Club World Cup as viewed by its transfer activity ahead of the tournament and comments made by the likes of star striker Kylian Mbappe. As well as boasting bragging rights, Alonso’s men can also become much richer by going all the way on American soil.
