JONESVILLE, Va. (WJHL) — A Pennington Gap man will spend the next 16 years of his life in prison for charges related to methamphetamine possession.

A news release from Lee County Commonwealth’s Attorney H. Fuller Cridlin said that Marshall Dale Jones was sentenced on Monday.

According to the release, Pennington Gap officers stopped Jones on November 1, 2023, leading to a search of his car. He was charged with possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute after officers discovered over 100 grams of meth in his vehicle.

“The search uncovered more than 100 grams of methamphetamine, packed for distribution, along with over $2,800 in cash,” the release states.

Jones was sentenced to serve 16 years in prison, with four years of probation to follow his release.

“We appreciate the hard work of all the officers and prosecutors who worked diligently to ensure this defendant was brought to justice,” Cridlin stated in the release. “This sentencing highlights the damage that methamphetamine trafficking inflicts on our community.”
