Watch: Tumwater, WA Girls Protest Boys In Girls' Sports

There is growing resistance to the perceived injustice of allowing “transgender” girls—referred to here as boys—to participate in girls’ sports. The arguments against this practice, deemed unfair to girls, are familiar and frequently reiterated. However, it’s important to acknowledge the stand taken by a group of young female athletes from Tumwater, Washington, who have vocally opposed this situation.

Their message, featuring the banner “This is not a walkout, we’re not going anywhere,” captures their commitment to standing their ground. These young women believe their perspectives should be acknowledged, and they refuse to validate what they see as an unfair situation by their participation.

As we might suspect, the protest was preceded by yet another boy cosplaying as a girl dominating a girl’s event, this time a state track meet.

In this particular instance, the disparity was evident. A transgender athlete, referred to as “Veronica” Garcia, claimed a title not rightfully his. This situation might deny a hardworking girl athlete her rightful opportunities—opportunities she has earned through dedication and competition. Often, winning such championships can lead to scholarships and other significant benefits, which is presumably what “Veronica” Garcia aims to attain.

What’s more, I would bet serious money that “Veronica” Garcia does not genuinely suffer from gender dysphoria. This boy is, as noted, gaming the system, using a social contagion to gain recognition and awards to which he isn’t entitled.

Girls’ basketball player Frances Stauft was one of the girls who decided she’d had enough. She’s the one who organized the protest:

Good for her. We can hope that this produces some results, but in Washington? It’s hard to know; several states are defying the Trump administration’s mandates on this.
