CARTER COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A Carter County house’s wall was torn through on Tuesday after a tree trunk crashed through it.

First responders were at the scene Tuesday afternoon when News Channel 11 arrived.

The home on Lick Skillet Road in Stoney Creek had sustained significant damage with visible wreckage.

The Carter County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 911 caller notified emergency responders about a potential explosion affecting a house on Tuesday morning.

“Upon arrival, officers discovered a large tree trunk had descended down the hillside and collided with the home,” the sheriff’s office noted in a news release. “The tree penetrated the outer wall and came to a halt inside the building, causing significant damage to the property.”

No one was injured or required medical attention, the sheriff’s office reported.

Deputies reportedly learned that a construction crew further up the hill had been building a residential driveway.

“The construction team explained they were relocating sizable tree trunks using a bulldozer when one became uncontrollable and rolled downhill,” the release mentioned. “The workers stated they did not realize the tree trunk had impacted a residence.”

No explosives were being used at the site, and the sheriff’s office stated there was no evidence that any explosion had occurred.
