The location opened in April 2007.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A popular chicken wing chain location off Southside Boulevard abruptly shut its doors Wednesday.

A spokesperson for Hooters confirmed to First Coast News that its location at 4521 Southside Blvd. permanently closed its doors on Wednesday.

The location had opened in April 2007.

The spokesperson said the restaurant was closed after “careful consideration” of what is needed to best position the company for the future.

According to a spokesperson, “Hooters has made the tough choice to shut down our Jacksonville Southside branch, effective as of June 4, 2025,” in a statement shared with First Coast News. “By refining our operations to align with our long-term objectives, Hooters aims to strengthen its renowned legacy through a sole franchise-based business model.”

The closing comes nearly one year after the chain closed its Orange Park location off Wells Road, which was open for nearly 24 years.

In March, Hooters initiated a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, intending to transfer ownership of its company-run outlets to a consortium of franchise operators. This bankruptcy process was anticipated to last between 90 to 120 days. At that time, the company mentioned it was reassessing its “operational footprint” for the future, which could lead to the closure of some restaurants.

A spokesperson added, “We are devoted to assisting our affected team members during this transition and deeply appreciate our cherished customers for their unwavering support and loyalty to the Hooters brand.”

There is one remaining Hooters location at 8938 San Jose Blvd.
