Authorities searched a Minnesota landfill on Friday amid the ongoing disappearance of a 16-year-old boy who vanished last month.

According to KARE, various agencies, including the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the FBI, are conducting a search at the Elk River Landfill for Jordan Collins Jr. Collins disappeared from Columbia Heights on May 8, and officials suspect that he is being detained against his wishes.

Sheriff Brad Wise mentioned that Collins’ social media accounts have been silent since he went missing, and his mother reported that his phone was only turned on briefly for three minutes on May 11. The Star Tribune stated that Collins’ mother also mentioned her son was visiting his father and intended to return before he disappeared.

“We have an idea of what we might be searching for, and our plan is to continue the search until we either find it or not,” Anoka County Commander Wayne Heath told KARE.

Officials have not disclosed whether Friday’s search means the case has transitioned to a recovery mission. Heath said the landfill search could continue into the weekend.

Collins was described as standing 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds, and having black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white ribbed tank top with red and black plaid pants.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension’s tip line at 877-996-6222.
