Bill Maher isn’t hiding his excitement about the main event unfolding before the public — a billionaire showdown featuring Donald Trump and Elon Musk.
Commencing Friday night’s episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, the host homed in on the pair’s chaotic, meme-worthy exchange, declaring it his sole focus for the week. “It’s like Godzilla versus King Kong — if Godzilla were on ketamine and King Kong sported a combover,” Maher remarked, establishing the comedic tone right from the start.
Once allies, Trump and Musk’s rapport has deteriorated into political digs and personal taunts — or as Maher described, “They were so close, akin to Brangelina or Bennifer.” Of course, he proposed his own blend of their names: “Elump.”
Maher poked fun at the now-infamous black eye Musk sported last week, which the X owner blamed on some roughhousing with his kid. Trump reportedly offered him makeup to cover it, which Musk declined. âAnd then Trump said, âwhich was interesting.â Yeah, weird. Elon, what sort of man turns down makeup?â Maher laughed.
The HBO host walked viewers through the beef blow-by-blow: Musk slammed Trumpâs âbig beautiful billâ as a âdisgusting abomination,â Trump accused Musk of having âTrump derangement syndrome,â and Musk warned that Trumpâs tariff plans could spark a recession â or as Maher accidentally (and hilariously) said, an âerection.â
It didnât stop there. Maher reminded viewers that Trump claimed Musk was bitter because he removed EV mandates that supposedly propped up Tesla sales â a claim Musk has denied. Musk then threw Epstein conspiracy shade, suggesting Trump had something to hide.
âThis is just a war that keeps escalating,â Maher said, before joking that âthe winner faces Blake Lively.â
And as tensions rise, Maher joked about the possibility of things getting even pettier. âTomorrow, Elonâs apparently stopping by the White House to pick up his CDs and the mixtape they made together.â
But it could get real â Trump is now threatening to yank Muskâs government contracts and subsidies. âCool,â Maher deadpanned. âSo I guess in the end, Elon did save the taxpayer money.â
