Custard Cup 'scooping' the love to Danville organizations

DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — The Custard Cup in Danville is scooping more than just ice cream.

Their Scoops of Love campaign collects customer donations to give back to local organizations.

Each month, a different organization is selected to receive the funds. Custard Cup Owner Andrew Seibert expressed that it is an honor to unite and work towards the improvement of the community.

“It’s just really important to me to give back to our community and our customers are embracing that and joining us in that,” Seibert said.

On Sunday, Danville Humane Society, St. James Food Pantry and It Takes a Village mentorship were each awarded a few thousand dollars.

Danville Humane Society Director Alyssa Julian said the money could not have come at a better time.

“We absolutely need this,” Julian mentioned. “Our animals at the Humane Society of Danville remain with us until they are adopted or if they become seriously ill without hope for recovery. Thus, long-term care is quite costly, including veterinary services, food, or simply providing shelter.”

This program is in its second year. Last year, the Custard Cup was able to donate roughly $16,000 to various groups. This year, they are projected to contribute $20,000.
