Highway 80 fatal crash victim identified

TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. () — The victim in the multi-car collision on Highway 80 on Saturday has been identified.

According to the City of Tybee, Jamie Spear, the city’s human resources director, died in the crash.

“The City of Tybee Island mourns the loss of our Human Resources Director, Jamie Spear, who tragically passed away due to injuries from a car accident this weekend. Jamie was a gifted professional and a genuine leader, both within the city and in her HR career. She had a unique ability to handle challenging discussions with a mix of compassion, empathy, and mentorship. Jaime was cherished by her colleagues and will be fondly remembered for her wise counsel, strong work ethic, radiant smile, and positive disposition. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jaime’s family as they face this challenging period.”

Around 5:40 p.m. Saturday, Chatham County Fire Department (CCFD) and several other agencies responded to the multi vehicle rollover crash.

Six people were transported to Memorial Hospital.
