The inquest into the death of a woman who took a fatal fall down one of Britain’s most popular mountains has concluded.
Maria Eftimova, a Bulgaria-born structural civil engineer who lived in the UK, fell when she tried to pull herself up a ledge of Mount Tryfan, in Eryri, or Snowdonia, Wales, the BBC has reported.

The inquest was told Eftimova was part of a group who elected to choose a more challenging route up the popular climbing mountain.

Two of her companions described the moment she fell after being unable to secure a handhold.

“She started to pull herself up, but then I saw her flying over the top of my head down the mountainside,” said fellow climber Harry Jones in a statement.

Another group member, Neil Oakes, said he remembered shouting “no no no” as he watched Eftimova in “freefall”, and that he looked away before she struck the mountainside below.

Eftimova died before rescue crews could remove her from the mountain.

She was found to have suffered severe head injuries.

She was an experieced mountain climber and overall adventurer, having completed a glacier climbing course in Norway, the BBC said.

The coroner recorded a conclusion of accidental death and passed her condolences on to loved ones over the loss of a “bright and conscientious young woman”.
