Developing: Police Cancel AMBER ALERT for 3-Year-Old Delaware Tot, Homicide Investigation Underway After Mother Files False Abduction Report

A Maryland woman allegedly admitted to fatally beating her 3-year-old daughter on Monday, then lying about her being abducted.

As reported by WCAU, Darrian Randle, 31, admitted to hitting Nola Dinkins with a belt 15 to 20 times before realizing the girl was not breathing. Instead of calling for medical assistance, Randle is said to have phoned her boyfriend, Cedrick Britten, 44, and drove around with Dinkins’ body prior to returning home.

Court records indicated that Randle and Britten subsequently placed Dinkins’ body in a suitcase and left it on the basement stairs overnight. Britten then disposed of the suitcase containing Dinkins’ body at a park in Perryville, as stated by WCAU.

On Tuesday, Randle contacted New Castle, Delaware, police, alleging that Dinkins was kidnapped at gunpoint. An AMBER Alert was activated before Britten informed officers that Dinkins had left home with her mother. However, WBAL reported that surveillance footage captured Randle leaving the house alone.

Officers noted that the home reeked of bleach — and a search of Britten’s car uncovered a child’s blanket with a reddish smear resembling blood, WBAL reported.

According to court documents, Randle ultimately admitted to officers that she lied about her daughter being abducted. On Wednesday, Britten  reportedly drew a map of the Maryland park where he allegedly dumped the toddler’s remains. A body was recovered from the park the following day.

Randle was charged with first- and second-degree murder, and first-degree child abuse resulting in death of a minor under 13. Britten was charged as an accessory to first- and second-degree murder. Randle is awaiting extradition to Maryland.
