A person of interest was taken into custody Saturday night during a “No Kings” protest in Salt Lake City, Utah, according to police.

According to Salt Lake City Police, a shooting occurred near 200 South State Street, resulting in one person being injured. The individual was taken to a hospital with critical injuries.

Police urged demonstrators to leave the area in an orderly fashion. Police said the shooting was “possibly associated” with the protest.

On Saturday, various cities nationwide witnessed “No Kings” protests against President Donald Trump. Protesters chanted against authoritarianism and expressed backing for the defense of democracy and immigrant rights. These demonstrations coincided with a significant military parade worth around $45 million in Washington, D.C., which marked the Army’s 250th anniversary and celebrated Trump’s 79th birthday.
