The Champaign Police Department is actively looking into additional retail theft cases occurring at Meijer in Champaign. They are once again seeking assistance from the public via Crime Stoppers.

Authorities had previously requested assistance regarding a theft that took place on May 28. Since then, and over the subsequent two-week period, there have been four additional theft incidents at the store from June 1 through June 10.

The individuals involved used bags, coolers, or shopping carts to steal merchandise without paying. Store employees managed to retrieve some of the items at the exit, but approximately $1,500 in goods were still taken by the perpetrators.

The first of these new thefts happened June 1. The suspect was a woman between 18 to 25 years old with an average build, black hair and a beige purse. She was wearing a white shirt and black Adidas pants, and she left in a black sedan.

The next theft happened a week later on June 8, starting three consecutive days of thefts from Meijer. The June 8 theft involved two people — one man and one woman.

The man was described as being 36 to 50 years old with an average build, and was wearing a white hat, a black shirt and blue shorts. The woman was between 18 to 25 years old with an average build and braids, and was wearing a white shirt, peach skirt and had a black bag. They left Meijer in a black GMC SUV.

The June 9 theft involved three people. One suspect was a man between 18 to 25 years old with a slender build and was wearing a black shirt and black pants. The other two suspects were women, both between 26 to 35 years old. One had a large build and was wearing glasses, a brown tank top and white shorts. The other had an average build and was wearing a green and white shirt, green and white shorts and had a black bag.

The three suspects left the store in a Chevy SUV.

The June 10 theft involved one person: a woman over 50 with a slender build and low-cut brown hair. She was wearing a black shirt, camo pants, had a leopard-print bag, and left in a silver Hyundai sedan.

Anyone who has information on any of these thefts is asked to contact Champaign County Crime Stoppers by calling 217-373-8477, visiting Crime Stoppers’ website or using the P3 Tips app. All tips to Crime Stoppers are anonymous, even to law enforcement, and are eligible for a cash reward if the tip leads to an arrest.
