A tubing accident on Star Lake resulted in one child’s death and injured another one, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said.

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — A tubing accident on Star Lake in Putnam County left one child dead and two others injured, according to police.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is spearheading the probe into the accident, which occurred near 115 Star Lake Drive at approximately 2 p.m.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office reported that two children were transported from the crash site to a hospital. Tragically, one of them succumbed to their injuries. Meanwhile, a third child managed to walk away unscathed from the incident.

Initial findings suggest that a relative was in control of a boat towing a tube when it collided with an object, possibly a dock, according to the PCSO.

FWC continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
