"Unexpected Smell Causes Flight to Turn Back to Orlando Airport"

ORLANDO, Fla. – A flight was turned back to the Orlando International Airport on Wednesday due to an “unusual odor,” according to the airline.

Flight data shows that the Frontier Airlines flight initially took off for San Juan in Puerto Rico around 3:30 p.m.

But shortly after leaving, the plane turned around and headed back to MCO, arriving there at 4:40 p.m.

News 6 reached out to Frontier Airlines for more details on why the flight returned. A spokesperson for the airline provided the following statement:

“Earlier today, Flight 1824 traveling from Orlando to San Juan experienced an unusual odor reported by the flight attendants, leading to the aircraft’s return to Orlando.

The landing was safe, with no passengers needing medical assistance, though four flight attendants did seek medical help. Arrangements are being made for a replacement plane and crew, allowing the flight to continue to San Juan later this evening.”

According to FlightAware, the flight to San Juan was rescheduled to leave around 9 p.m.

However, no additional information about the incident has been provided at this time.
