The Snowflake-Taylor Police Department conducted a welfare check on Sunday night, discovering Cynthia Templeton, 53, and Troy Templeton, 62, deceased with what appeared to be gunshot wounds, KNXV reported.

The authorities were alerted by Cynthia Templeton’s ex-husband, who was bringing two children back to the home and noticed an open door. As reported by KTVK, Cynthia Templeton’s 21-year-old daughter was also present in the home but was unharmed.

Detectives have identified Cynthia Templeton’s 23-year-old son, Francis Alcantar Chavez, as a person of interest and have issued a “stop and hold” order for him and his vehicle.

Chavez was spotted on Tuesday in Concordia, Missouri, where he engaged in a pursuit with police officers but got away. Missouri State Police later located the vehicle and engaged him in another pursuit, but he “eventually ran into a trooper’s vehicle.”

“Troopers gave chase on foot, at which time, Francis, armed with a handgun, shot at one of the troopers, striking him in the bullet-resistant vest,” police said.

Troopers returned fire, hitting and killing Chavez.

Troy and Cynthia Templeton were both members of the civilian law enforcement auxiliary Arizona Rangers, where Cynthia was a lieutenant and Troy was a ranger.
