Sean Hjelle made his first public comments addressing abuse and infidelity allegations made against him by his wife, Caroline.

“At this moment, I can’t provide an official comment,” Hjelle mentioned after the team’s 3-2 victory against the Boston Red Sox on Saturday. “I’d like the chance to discuss this with my agent and lawyer. For over a year, our relationship, divorce, separation, and everything involved has been unfolding. Currently, I don’t have an official comment, as I need to consult with the appropriate people to determine the next steps. I’m handling it one day at a time. There’s no official comment right now.

“I’m confident that I will eventually have a statement. While I can’t provide an exact timeline, I want to talk to those managing the situation with and for me before releasing an official statement.”

In a TikTok post on Saturday, Caroline Hjelle alleged that her husband “leaves us on Mother’s Day… once I uncovered his affairs and refused to tolerate his mistreatment, leaving me to raise two boys alone.”

She held their two sons in the video.

The San Francisco Giants released a statement addressing the accusations shortly after Caroline’s post went viral.

“We are aware of these serious allegations,” the team said. “We have been in contact with MLB. These type of allegations fall under their jurisdiction, and we won’t be commenting further.”

Giants manager Bob Melvin addressed Hjelle’s situation before Saturday’s game.

“Obviously, we’re aware. He told me about it last night,” Melvin said. “We’ve talked to MLB, and at this point, it’s in their jurisdiction so we really can’t comment any further.”

On the mound this season, Hjelle is 1–1 with a 4.66 ERA across six appearances, including his first career major league start on June 8.

He holds a 7–8 career record and 4.80 ERA over 144 1/3 innings.

MLB’s domestic violence policy grants the commissioner authority to impose administrative leave for up to seven days during investigations, even in the absence of criminal proceedings.

For now, Hjelle remains active, but further discipline could follow depending on MLB’s findings.
