Authorities in Massachusetts are searching for a woman described as “armed and dangerous” after her longtime police officer husband was found dead inside her Worcester home.
The search for 58-year-old Karen Solomon began after officers responded to a reported medical emergency at the residence and discovered the body of an off-duty patrolman, police and local reports said.
The Worcester police union identified the officer as Kurt Solomon, 57, a 31-year veteran of the Worcester Police Department and the father of two adult sons.
“Kurt was a loved and respected member of our department with 31 years,” NEPBA Local 911 President Officer Thomas Duffy said. “When you serve 31 years with an individual you become more than coworkers, you become family and today we lost a member of our family.”
Police have said Massachusetts domestic violence laws limit what they can disclose about Karen Solomon’s relationship to the dead officer, though sources told WBZ-TV that Kurt Solomon was her husband.

Karen Solomon also previously described herself as married to a Worcester police officer in a 2016 interview with the station about an app she was developing to help officers in crisis.
Investigators said she was last seen near her home wearing pajama shorts and a tank top.
Worcester Police Chief Paul Saucier told WBZ-TV that Karen Solomon is “presumed to be armed and dangerous.”
The Worcester County District Attorney’s offices said Karen is being sough “for questioning” in connection with her husband’s death.
“You want to do everything you can to find that person as quickly as possible and also find out what happened in the house that evening,” Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. said.
