An Arkansas man was arrested Sunday afternoon after he was identified as a suspect in the murders of his sister and parents earlier in the day.
According to the Bryant Police Department, they received a call around 7:30 a.m. from a man who had arrived home from work to find his wife and her parents deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.
Three children were found in the home with no physical injuries.
Police officers and Saline County deputies arrested 34-year-old Jarrod Mitchell and charged him with three counts of first degree murder.
Police said they found signs of forced entry at the home, according to Law&Crime.
Documents from the court reveal that Mitchell has a history with drug-related arrests and was involuntarily sent to a detox facility in 2017. At that time, court papers stated “he threatened his mother, her spouse, and his sister. He had knives arranged on the bed and was carrying one himself.”
The petition for Mitchell’s commitment was signed by his grandparents, with whom he was living at the time.
According to KARK, Mitchell was ordered held on a $2 million bond and is due back in court on August 5.
