Donald Trump has claimed he turned down Vladimir Putin’s offer to assist with the Iran-Israel conflict, responding that he actually needed assistance in managing the Russian leader’s activities.

According to the US president, Putin called him before a ceasefire agreement was reached between the belligerent countries and inquired if he required any help.

“I replied, ‘No, I don’t need help with Iran. I need help with you,'” Trump stated before departing on Air Force One to attend the NATO summit in the Netherlands.

“I hope we are going to be getting a deal done with Russia”.

It’s unclear if Putin’s call came before or after the US strike on three nuclear facilities in Iran.

During the NATO summit this year, which marks Trump’s first participation since starting his second term in January, leaders are anticipated to talk about ongoing support for Ukraine in light of Russian hostilities.

At least 17 people were killed and more than 100 were injured in Russia’s latest air strikes on south-east Ukraine on Tuesday.

The attack took place as Zelenskyy arrived in the Netherlands for the NATO meeting.
