Tanden, who played the role of Senior Advisor to the President during the first half of the Biden administration, gave her testimony on Tuesday. This was in connection with the Committee’s probe into concerns about President Biden’s cognitive health and his capacity to authorize the use of an autopen under such conditions.

“In my role as staff secretary, I was tasked with managing the flow of paperwork to and from the president,” she stated, as reported by the Washington Examiner. “Additionally, I had the authority to approve autopen signatures for certain types of documents.”

“There was an established procedure for autopen authorization that I continued from previous administrations,” Tanden mentioned. “We consistently used this procedure during my time as staff secretary.”
