ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. — What began as a traffic stop in St. Tammany Parish became a memorable chance for a local sheriff’s deputy to demonstrate empathy.

Deputy Dustin Byers of the 4th District stopped a driver who was reportedly speeding on Highway 21. As per the sheriff’s office, the driver revealed he was facing a ‘rough day’ as he was heading to a funeral.

The officer noticed that the man’s necktie was a mess and that he could not tie the knot correctly.
