A federal immigration officer was recently detained after allegations emerged of offering to adjust immigrants’ status in return for bribes over a period of almost ten years.
Amara Dukuly, 43, from Brookhaven, Pennsylvania, an immigration officer working with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), faces charges of bribery of a public official, linked to his alleged request for a bribe in exchange for performing official duties.

By seeking, receiving, and accepting money to be swayed in executing an official act, Dukuly used the bribe proceeds for his personal gain, as stated by United States Attorney David Metcalf.
It is unclear how many immigrants Dukuly is accused of accepting bribes from.
