MONROE COUNTY, Ind. (WXIN) A man has pleaded guilty to setting fire to an emergency Narcan box outside a crisis center.

Deputies responded to the center at around 4:30 a.m. on January 30 after a report of a man setting a fire, according to a news release from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

When deputies arrived, they learned that a man – later identified as 42-year-old Ean Busby – reportedly set fire to an emergency Narcan box located outside the entrance to the center.

The fire was already out when deputies arrived and the box reportedly had minor damage.

The release said Stride Center employees told deputies Busby arrived at the center a short time before the fire started. Busby reportedly wanted to stay at the center but was not allowed in.

In response to this, deputies claim Busby placed a “slow” sign that was in the alleyway in front of the center door and set the Narcan box on fire.

After officials learned Busby’s identity, deputies searched the area and located him. The release said Busby was booked into the Monroe County Correctional Center on a preliminary charge of arson, a Level 4 felony.

According to court documents filed on Wednesday, Busby was sentenced to time served in this case after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor count of criminal mischief.
