Monday Morning Minute: When Even Your Average Dem Agrees, You Know Trump Hit the Bullseye

Many Americans are eagerly anticipating next week’s Independence Day festivities. This holiday isn’t just about gathering with loved ones; it carries a significance that many other holidays may lack. We hold a collective understanding and respect for what our ancestors accomplished in their fight to establish a sovereign and independent nation.

We also recognize the dedication of our valiant men and women in the armed forces, stationed globally to protect our continued freedom. In recent years, though Americans have consistently felt pride in their nationality, there has been a palpable lack of optimism about the state of the nation. However, a recent survey shows that this sentiment is shifting.

A new Emerson College poll released on Friday showed that a majority of registered voters say that since Donald Trump has been president, they are feeling more patriotic. It was taken between June 24-25, and surveyed 1,000 registered voters. Overall, 39 percent said that Trump’s presidency had made their patriotic feelings stronger, 34 percent said that Trump in the White House did not affect their feelings of patriotism, and 27 percent said their patriotic feelings had lessened.

Sadly, as might be expected, when broken down along party lines, the difference in the strength of those feelings of patriotism was rather stark. Among Republicans, 67 percent said that Trump’s presidency had made them more patriotic. Among Democrats, 45 percent said, shock, they felt less patriotic. Independent voters were pretty evenly divided on the question of the Trump effect making them feel more or less patriotic, with 31 percent saying they felt more patriotic, and 30 percent saying they felt less patriotic.

The survey also asked voters how they would rate Trump’s overall job approval. That was a statistical dead heat, with 45 percent of those polled saying they felt he was doing a good job, and 46 percent saying they disapproved of his job performance. White House Assistant Press Secretary Taylor Rogers rightly summed up the survey, saying in a statement to the Daily Caller News Foundation:

“Americans finally feel safe, proud, and free after four years of Joe Biden’s incompetence. Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, America is hot again!”

Democrats and the left tried to portray the recent military parade in Washington, D.C., as some sort of wild display of authoritarianism. California Democrat Sen. Adam Schiff called it a “dictator-style military parade.” But what Schiff conveniently left out was that the parade was a celebration of the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday. It not only included a swearing-in ceremony for new recruits, but was a chance to celebrate the incredible bravery of America’s service men and women, something most rational Americans can get behind.

Americans will have another big chance to showcase their patriotism when America celebrates its 250th birthday in 2026. Trump signed an executive order back in January establishing a task force that will plan the nation’s birthday party next year. Something that should make all Americans feel their most patriotic.

Because it is run by imperfect human beings, America is not a perfect nation. But we strive to be that perfect nation every day. In our 249-year existence, people from all over the world have come to America (legally) to be the best they could be and make better lives for their families. Donald Trump putting America first has made more Americans feel good about the country again, and brought back much of the American spirit we lost over the last four years. As we approach Independence Day 2025, Americans remembering the true meaning of that day is most certainly alive and well.
