LEESBURG, Fla. – A man from Mount Dora turned himself in on Friday after his father accompanied him to the Leesburg Police Department following a deadly shooting that occurred that evening.

Kameryn Pickard, 18, faces charges of premeditated murder and conspiracy -solicitation, records show.

Police officers were called at about 7 p.m. on Friday regarding a shooting incident on the 1000 block of Tuskegee Street, according to a Leesburg police spokesperson. At the scene, officers and EMS provided assistance to a 20-year-old male who was then transported to UF Health Leesburg Hospital and later declared deceased, as per the release.

As Leesburg detectives and crime scene investigators processed the site of the shooting, Pickard’s father brought him to the police station, leading to his arrest after a discussion with investigators, according to the release.

Appropriate charges are pending determination between Leesburg detectives and the State Attorney’s Office, police said, adding the victim’s name would not be shared at the time of this writing.

Pickard is being held on no bond for the time being, records show.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Leesburg police at 352-787-2121 or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477).
