SAVANNAH, Ga. () — The city of Savannah will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony next week to celebrate the opening of a new splashpad.

The ceremony will be Wednesday, July 9 at 10 a.m. at the spot of the city’s sixth splashpad, located at Montgomery Crossroads.

The splashpad forms a key component of the Recreation Re-Imagined Initiative, which seeks to broaden the aquatic amenities offered by the Recreation and Leisure Services Department. This expansion brings the total to 16 facilities, which include four pools administered by the city.

The city disclosed that developing the Montgomery Crossroads splashpad amounted to $110,000. This expenditure was part of nearly $500,000 allocated to Aldermanic District 5 and over four million dollars dedicated citywide to enhance or build recreational facilities over the past four years.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new splashpad is free and open to the public.

All splashpads are open seven days a week from March-October, operating from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.

City pools operate Monday through Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. On Saturdays, the pools are open from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and again from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

All city pools are closed Friday.

Daffin Park Pool and Tompkins Pool are open Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
