Jimmy Swaggart preaching to a large crowd.

TELEVANGELIST Jimmy Swaggart has died at age 90 over two weeks after suffering a heart attack.

His family announced on Tuesday that Swaggart “finished his earthly race” after being hospitalized last month.

Swaggart had been unconscious in a hospital after he went into cardiac arrest at his home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Father’s Day.

He faced an uphill battle as he lost consciousness during the medical incident two weeks ago, his son Donnie said.

“Without a miracle, his time is short,” Donnie told ABC affiliate WBRZ-TV at the time.

Megan Kelly, who is the spokesperson for Swaggart Family Ministries, stated that Swaggart was promptly taken to the hospital on that Sunday morning.

“Ambulances arrived rapidly. They administered CPR, taking turns performing it, and it was understandably a very emotional and stressful experience at that moment,” Kelly explained.

The televangelist died shortly after he was inducted into the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame on Monday.

He was honored for decades of contributions to gospel music and Christian ministry.

Swaggart had learned about the induction on his birthday in March, Kelly said.

Kelly said the induction was “bittersweet.”

“His life and his legacy have touched so many, and we’re just honored to be a part of this,” Kelly told CBS affiliate WAFB.

She said the family, who was preparing for his death, was grateful to celebrate one last major accomplishment for the famous pastor.

Donnie is expected to accept the Hall of Fame honor on his behalf in a ceremony scheduled for September.
