Kelvin McCray, 48, pleaded guilty to two charges for impregnating a 13-year-old girl.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A Clay County man was sentenced to 20 years in prison Monday after pleading guilty to impregnating a minor, court records show.

Kelvin McCray, 48, pleaded guilty to charges of sexual assault on a minor aged 12-17 with no physical force and child abuse.

As part of McCray’s sentence, he is required to register as a sexual predator. Judge James Kallaher, who sentenced McCray, granted him credit for the 414 days he had already served.

McCray was apprehended on May 13, 2024, on Wells Road in Orange Park following a traffic stop, according to his arrest warrant. The investigation into the assault began in October 2023, as noted in his arrest report, which is heavily redacted and does not reveal the connection between the victim and McCray.

The report states the victim, who is 13 years old, gave birth in early February.

According to the report, investigators obtained DNA samples of both the baby and McCray. The results confirmed that McCray is the father.

At the time of the assault, McCray was employed at Deep Creek Youth Academy. He resigned from the school in February 2024, as confirmed by First Coast News.
