Two South Carolina teens have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy last week.

A 19-year-old named Devan Raper has been accused of murdering Trey Wright in Johnsonville on June 24. He was taken into custody on Wednesday and faces charges of murder and possessing a weapon during a violent crime, according to statements made by the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.

This week, law enforcement apprehended 17-year-old Gianna Helene Kistenmacher. She is alleged to have transported Raper to the site where he allegedly shot Wright. She now faces charges of accessory before the fact, as indicated by the sheriff’s office.

Florence County Sheriff’s Office Major Mike Dunn shared with WBTW that Kistenmacher had driven Raper to Johnsonville, fully aware of his possession of a firearm and anticipating a confrontation likely to result in death, as per statements made in her presence.

Sheriff TJ Joye told the station that Raper and Wright had a dispute over a girl and that the shooting was captured on video.

“This was an altercation between two people. It’s not like I’m just going to go to Johnsonville and shoot somebody. They had issues with each other and it was over a female,” Joye said. “The sad thing is, you got a 16-year-old that lost his life. You’ve got a 19-year-old who is going to be in jail the rest of his life. Over what?”

Raper and Kistenmacher have both been denied bond. Raper is scheduled for a first appearance in General Sesions court on August 19.

The sheriff’s office said they responded to the shooting at about 11:30 p.m. on June 24 and found Wright lying in the road with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Investigators say more arrests and additional charges are possible.
