A HORRIFYING incident unfolded as a petrol station in Rome erupted into a massive fireball, resulting in injuries to at least 21 individuals.
Glass was shattered and three people suffered severe burns after the shocking blast in an eastern neighbourhood in Rome.
A huge bang was heard across the capital, with pictures showing billowing clouds of black smoke filling the air.
While flames are seen spreading over the gas station and parked cars.
Rome‘s public transport agency Atac said it closed a nearby metro station ‘Teano’ following instructions from police.
Emergency services were rushed to the scene at around 8am today, including seven ambulances, fire engines, and police forces.
Firefighters are still tackling the flames and have secured the entire area.
Nearby buildings have also reportedly been damaged by the explosion.
Local metro stations and the town sports centre have been closed, while residents in two buildings have been evacuated.
