Here’s the situation: late on the Fourth of July in Alvarado, Texas, a police officer responded to a call about a suspicious person near an ICE detention facility, according to officials. As the officer attempted to approach the individual, multiple attackers opened fire, striking the officer in the neck.
Luckily, he was treated and released by a local hospital, but the incident is nonetheless disturbing:
The Alvarado Police Department reported that just before 11 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Sunflower Lane, near the ICE Prairieland Detention Facility, due to a report of a suspicious individual. Upon arrival, they noticed someone who seemed to be armed, according to a news release…
Alvarado police stated that with the help of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and other local agencies, several armed suspects were apprehended after attempting to escape the location.
