HINESVILLE, Ga. () — From strolling through the corridors of Bradwell Institute to shining under New York City’s spotlights, Joshua Eugene Smith is on the brink of his off-Broadway debut in the timeless musical “Sunday in the Park with George.”
A Tiger turned Polar Bear
Having graduated in 2023 from Bradwell Institute, Smith is now progressing as a junior at the renowned Manhattan School of Music (MSM), where he focuses on musical theater. This coming July, he will grace the stage at the Cullum Theater located on West 54th Street in NYC, playing dual roles—the soldier and Billy Webster—in the much-adored piece by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine.

The production is scheduled to run from July 11-13 and will be Smith’s inaugural performance in an off-Broadway professional setting, marking a significant step in the promising actor’s emerging career.
Smith’s journey from small-town Georgia to one of the world’s most competitive performing arts scenes has been marked by his dedication, passion and the unwavering support of his parents Andrew and DeLandria Burrell Smith.
“Sunday in the park with George,” inspired by the painting “A Sunday on La Grande Jatte” by Georges Seurat, is a Tony-Award-winning musical celebrated for its passionate themes. Smith’s dual roles in the production reflect his versality as a performer.
Whether you are a fan of musical theater or simply a hometown success story, Joshua Eugene Smith is one name to remember.
