She came to the rescue in a peel-worthy disguise.
A Florida woman is capturing attention online after calling police for help at a crash scene while still wearing a banana costume.
Stephanie Oropeza and her fiancé were driving home from a Halloween party at about 4 a.m. Saturday when they witnessed a vehicle crash into The Moderne Bar in Orlando. The collision caused an estimated $50,000 or more in damage, according to ClickOrlando.
“At first we were just in shock,” Oropeza said. She recalled seeing the driver traveling “on the opposite side of the road” before gradually “veering” into the bar.
However, Oropeza soon became the scene’s unexpected spectacle herself. Video of her reporting the crash while dressed as a banana spread online, leaving viewers wondering whether the bizarre footage could really be authentic.
“They were like, ‘Is this AI? Like, are you messing with us?’” said Michael Nguyen, the owner of The Moderne, who shared the video.
“And I was like, ‘No, no, this is really a rogue 4:30 a.m. banana just roaming the streets of Mills, just saving the day, reporting the incident.’”

Oropeza said she discovered the next morning that her quick response had turned her into an internet sensation.
“I woke up and I looked up if anyone posted about the crash and then see the headline is ‘banana hero,’” she said.
The restaurant later located Oropeza and thanked her by giving her a complimentary meal.
“It feels nice,” Oropeza said. “And I hope this all just can spread a better message that if you see someone in need.”
No one was injured in the crash, but the impact left the restaurant facing substantial repairs. Nguyen estimated that replacing the custom fence alone could cost as much as $50,000.
The collision also destroyed six tables and dozens of chairs, he said.
The Orlando Police Department did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for additional information.
