2 men arrested in connection to deadly Macclenny double shooting

Authorities have charged two men in the fatal shooting of Devin “DJ” Powers Jr., who succumbed to his injuries on July 2, the Baker County Sheriff’s Office announced.

BAKER COUNTY, Fla. — The Baker County Sheriff’s Office reported on Tuesday that two individuals have been detained in connection with a deadly double shooting on June 26 in Macclenny.

Jamarian Byrd, 22, and Travis Roberts Jr., 24, are both facing charges including first-degree murder, aggravated battery, three counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling, and discharging a firearm in public.

Deputies say the two men are accused of shooting and killing Devin “DJ” Powers Jr., who died of his injuries on Wednesday, July 2, according to BCSO.

The shooting happened at the intersection of South Boulevard West and Quail Lane.

“Sheriff Scotty Rhoden extends his heartfelt condolences to the family of DJ Powers and wants to remind the community that gun violence has no place in Baker County,” a BCSO news release states.

Powers was one of two people hospitalized with gunshot wounds following the shooting. Undersheriff Randy Crews told First Coast News one victim is a minor and the other is an adult. It is unclear if Powers is the minor or adult in this incident.
