Jacksonville authorities dismantled a drug house near Downtown, seizing enough fentanyl to potentially kill over 600,000 people.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A substantial drug bust in the Brentwood neighborhood has been successfully executed due to the collaborative efforts of Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Narcotics detectives and District 5 Task Force officers. The JSO reported that the quantity of fentanyl seized was “enough to kill more than 600,000 people,” which they emphasized equals “half the entire population of Jacksonville.”

Detectives received a tip-off about potential drug activities taking place at a home on West 27th Street last month, as stated in a release. Authorities reported that this residence was implicated in distributing dangerous narcotics throughout the downtown region.

Following several weeks of surveillance and evidence collection, officers carried out a search warrant at the site last week, revealing an overwhelming stockpile of illegal substances, firearms, and stolen goods.

  • 1,200+ grams of Fentanyl (Enough to kill more than 600,000 people, according to JSO)
  • 1,387.2 grams of Cathinone
  • 492.5 grams of Crack Cocaine
  • 165.1 grams of Powder Cocaine
  • 115.2 grams of Ecstasy
  • 7.1 grams of Heroin
  • 6.2 pounds of Marijuana

In addition to the drugs, detectives found five firearms, including one with an illegal switch and another reported stolen.

Five suspects have been arrested and are facing felony charges: Yahya Ali, 48; Alshawn Martin, 47; Bilal Ali, 20; Tywanna Davenport, 40; and James Johnson, 54.

The drug house was located alarmingly close to a church, a library, and Andrew Jackson High School, according to JSO. Authorities say its takedown is a major step toward keeping the community safe.

“We’re making Jacksonville a safer place for you and your family,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Residents who notice suspicious activity are encouraged to report it by calling 904-630-0500.
