Two teenagers had a fortunate brush with fate after a nail-biting helicopter rescue by the U.S. Coast Guard when they veered off course from a well-known tourist spot in Oregon over the weekend.

The dramatic rescue took place Saturday close to the Roads End Point recreation area. The two teens, along with a Lincoln County Fire Department member, found themselves stranded on a cliffside, according to the Coast Guard.

“Our air crews regularly practice with our partner agencies to perform rescues in diverse conditions and terrain across the Pacific Northwest,” stated CDR Amanda Denning, the executive officer of Coast Guard Air Station Astoria. She added, “We are extremely pleased that we successfully rescued the three individuals and brought them back to safety.”
