Plane crash-lands near St. Augustine airport

St. Johns County Fire Rescue noted in a Facebook post that the plane executed the emergency landing near Island Landing Drive, and the incident is currently being investigated.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — There were no injuries reported on Friday afternoon following the crash-landing of a small plane on U.S. 1 near the Northeast Florida Regional Airport in St. Augustine, as per the reports from St. Johns County Fire Rescue crews. 

First responders also mentioned that there were no fuel leaks reported during the emergency landing, which took place near Island Landing Drive, just north of the airport. 

The plane, a single-engine Cessna 150F, was flying from Greenville, South Carolina, bound for St. Augustine, according to flight tracking data on FlightAware.com. 

According to FAA registration data, the plane is registered to a man with a Niagara County, New York, address.

Chris Naff, a spokesperson with St. Johns County Fire Rescue, said the call came in around 3:30 p.m., and the cause is still under investigation. Naff said the Florida Highway Patrol is leading the investigation.

St. Johns Fire Rescue’s Facebook post said drivers should avoid the area as crews are still on scene.
