He faces federal charges for allegedly posing as a tutor online to lure a child for sexual acts.

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Authorities have charged a 39-year-old Ponte Vedra man with federal offenses following allegations of posing as a tutor online and planning to meet with a child for illicit activities, as per United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg’s statement.

Kevin Patrick Wilson has been arrested and charged with a criminal complaint with attempted enticement and coercion of a minor.

The court documents reveal that Wilson replied to a Facebook post from a user looking for a child tutor. He impersonated a woman who suggested her “husband” as a suitable tutor, sharing his contact number. The woman responded, mentioning she required a tutor for an 11-year-old, according to the release.

Wilson proceeded to send his photograph and requested an image of the child. The person who posted the advert ceased communication and informed the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, the release indicates.

On July 24, 2024, an undercover detective, pretending to be the guardian of a 12-year-old girl, reached out to Wilson about tutoring services. Wilson began discussing sexual topics involving the supposed 12-year-old girl and talked about meeting up with her for sexual acts.

The undercover detective arranged a meeting between Wilson and the “girl” to engage in sexual acts. When Wilson arrived, he was arrested.
