We’re currently watching a ton of new television. Like, an embarrassing amount.
We’re currently streaming fresh episodes of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (Hulu), Stick (Apple TV+), Bob’s Burgers (Hulu), and Dexter: Resurrection (Paramount+). At the same time, we’re making an effort to keep up with The Bear, all the Love Island series, and the second season of Poker Face on Peacock.
Despite the avalanche of unwatched episodes in our queue, we can’t help but want more episodes of Prime Video’s new Bosch spinoff Ballard.
The series, inspired by Michael Connelly’s Ballard novels, centers around Renée Ballard (Maggie Q), a detective assigned to address LA’s toughest, long-neglected crimes. She leads the LAPD’s new, underfunded cold case division.
According to Amazon, “While she delves into decades-spanning crimes—such as a serial killer’s murder spree and a John Doe’s unsolved death—she discovers a perilous conspiracy within the LAPD. With assistance from her volunteer team and retired detective Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver), Detective Ballard confronts personal traumas, professional hurdles, and life-threatening risks to reveal the truth.”
What’s the latest on a potential second season of Ballard? Great question. Here’s everything we know.
How Many Episodes Are There of The TV Show Ballard?
The first season of Ballard consists of ten episodes.
Ballard Cast Guide:
In addition to Maggie Q and Titus Welliver, the cast also includes Courtney Taylor, John Carroll Lynch, Michael Mosley, Rebecca Field, Victoria Moroles, Amy Hill, Ricardo Chavira, Noah Bean, Alain Uy, and Hector Hugo.
Has Ballard Been Renewed For Season 2?
Nope. Prime Video has yet to renew the series for a second season.
Will There Be a Season 2 of Ballard?
There’s no official information about a second season, but we strongly believe that the show will be back for another round of intrigue.
Not only is Ballard a hit with critics and fans alike — the series currently boasts a 100% Tomatometer score — but without getting into spoiler territory, the season ended on quite the cliffhanger. As of this writing, Ballard is the number one show in the United States on Amazon, and the Prime Video/Bosch relationship has been a lucrative one for all parties.
During a recent interview with Men’s Journal, Maggie Q revealed that they have a “great lineup for Season 2, story-wise” and that she’s crossing her fingers for a second season.
When would production potentially start on Season 2? We’ll let the star of the show answer that one.
“If we get a season two of Ballard, I think we’ll be back in the fall to shoot,” Q told The Hollywood Reporter during a July interview.
Again, there hasn’t been an official renewal, but we fully expect Ballard to return for a second season.
