Cissna Park, Ill. (WCIA) — Overcoming obstacles is nothing new to Addison Lucht.

Cissna Park didn’t have little league softball when she was growing up, leading her to play baseball until she could join a travel softball team.

“I played baseball until I was about 10 or 11 years old. I think it helped me develop a lot of athletic skills and overall competitiveness by playing with all the boys,” Addison explained. “There were some adjustments, like shorter bases, but having played baseball first was really beneficial.”

“Addison is very driven,” said her father, Scott. “Becoming the athlete she is today requires a lot of effort; it’s certainly not for the faint-hearted. She’s done exceptionally well in putting in the necessary work.”

Whether on the court or the diamond, her passion for success continued to grow.

“That’s a big reason why I’m where I am today, because I played a variety of sports instead of just one, engaging different muscle groups in each sport,” Addison mentioned. “In every team sport, you form different bonds and experience competitiveness. If I could do it again, I would definitely play all the sports.”

Lucht took visits all across the country, but the opportunity to play high-major college softball close to home was a big selling point.

“It’s always been a dream of mine ever since I was younger to play in that conference,” Addison said. “Growing up here, I think I’m just really excited for it.” “Going on my visit, I just loved everything about it, the coaching staff was amazing and obviously the great academics that they have, and I’m just really excited to be able to play closer to home, so a lot of family friends can come watch me.”

Before putting on the purple and white for the ‘Cats, a big senior season awaits Lucht and the T-Wolves with a chance to shine again on the state stage.
