Police: Waycross man arrested in Charlotte, accused of shooting at officer

The Waycross Police Department said Kamar Anthony Boyd, 20, is also a suspect in several other felony crimes.

WAYCROSS, Ga. — Authorities arrested a Waycross man in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Tuesday after he allegedly shot at a police officer during a vehicle pursuit in June, the Waycross Police Department revealed in a Facebook statement on Wednesday.

The department stated that U.S. Marshals apprehended Kamar Anthony Boyd, 20, in Charlotte around 1 p.m. on Tuesday. According to the police, he had been in hiding there since the event on June 28, 2025.

Boyd’s charges were not released by WPD.

Although police did not specify the location in Waycross where the incident took place, they noted that on the day in question, several shots were fired at an officer, with the patrol car sustaining multiple hits.

According to WPD, Boyd is also a suspect in several other felony crimes. The police department said Boyd is expected to face more felony charges.
