An Arizona man accused of recruiting another man to sexually assault his fiancée while she was home with her children has been pictured in a disturbing mugshot.
Zarian Dyer, 23, was arrested at his workplace Thursday after allegedly enlisting 20-year-old Adrian Ayala to attack his fiancée, Bella Torres, earlier this month, according to the Buckeye Police Department.
Online records show Dyer faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault, sexual abuse, attempted sexual assault, kidnapping and conspiracy.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office website shows Dyer posing for his mugshot with what appears to be a sinister smirk.
Court records obtained by the Merced Sun-Star state that Dyer left the couple’s Buckeye home at about 6 p.m. Oct. 16. Minutes later, Ayala allegedly arrived.
Torres told police she saw a “random man” peering through her front door. The man allegedly asked to use the bathroom.
Her 2-month-old son was asleep in a bedroom, while her 17-month-old daughter stood behind her as she confronted Ayala at the entrance.
According to Torres, Ayala then kicked in the door, forced his way inside and “began to choke her by grabbing her by the neck.”
The struggle continued after Ayala allegedly locked himself in the bathroom with Torres. He reportedly tried to unbutton her pants but was unable to do so before groping her, according to the local publication, citing court records.

Torres eventually managed to pull the alleged attacker outside and into the front yard. She fought back by pushing him away, slapping him in the face and yelling at him as he pressed his weight against her.
After Torres fought him off, Ayala allegedly told her: “Your boyfriend told me you’d be into this,” according to court documents.
Ayala fled but was arrested the next day at his home in Goodyear, about 15 miles away. Court records obtained by the Merced Sun-Star show he was charged with kidnapping, sexual abuse, burglary and aggravated assault.
At a court hearing Oct. 18, Ayala’s attorney told the judge that Dyer had brought him to the home for a “role-play scenario.” The lawyer argued that Ayala did not intend to commit a felony and believed Torres had consented, according to the local outlet.
After Ayala’s arrest, investigators allegedly discovered that Torres’ fiancée had been behind the attack, police said.
Ayala told investigators he went to Torres’ home after connecting with Dyer online and agreeing to sexually assault Dyer’s fiancée.
Detectives seized electronic devices belonging to Ayala and allegedly found communications between the two men discussing the planned attack.
Investigators said it remains unclear what motivated Dyer to allegedly orchestrate the attack against his fiancée.
