Aliyah Williams, 16, died after she was stabbed multiple times during an argument, police said.

Her alleged killer, 17, was arrested on Tuesday night in New York City.

Williams threw water on her attacker during their argument inside the deli, police said.

That’s when the killer pulled out a knife and stabbed her outside the Deli Grocery at around 4 pm.

She died from stab wounds to her face, chest, and body.

The teen was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, where she later died from her injuries.

It’s unclear what the inciting argument was about.

The horrific incident resulted in a bloody scene outside the Bronx deli before employees used bleach to clean it up, as reported by ABC affiliate WABC.

Her family said they don’t know who would have hurt the high school student.

They claim she was lured to the deli, which is a short walk away from her house.

Her heartbroken grandmother, Rose Anderson, said she had spoken with Williams earlier that day.

“She texted me today, she asked me for $10 for food,” Anderson told the New York Daily News.

“That was the last time I heard from her. I hope her soul rests in peace.”

She added, “She wasn’t a bad kid, she was a peaceful person, she gave of her heart.”

“May her soul rest in peace, I’m sorry she had to go this way.”

Statement from NYC Council Member

New York City Council Member Kevin Riley issued the following statement on July 16, 2025 about the killing of 16-year-old Aliyah Williams:

Our community is mourning the tragic loss of 16-year-old Aliyah Williams, who was fatally stabbed on Boston Road — just steps from her home.

This violent episode — born from a needless confrontation — should not have occurred. Our office has reached out to the local police station, and we are aware the investigation is still active. We encourage anyone with relevant information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS to support efforts for justice and recovery.

To our youth: one decision, made in anger or pain, can change lives forever. Please know — there is always another way. Your life matters.

To our family, religious leaders, and educators: it is crucial to strengthen our dedication to prevention, healing, and creating secure environments. Collectively, we must confront the underlying causes of violence and prioritize the welfare of our youth.

I’m grateful to our local partners — including Astor Services, BRAG North, and Bronx SUV — for providing support and intervention in this time of need.

If you or someone you know needs help navigating resources or support services, please reach out to our office. We are here.

We cannot allow acts of violence in our community to go unanswered. Each tragedy must move us to action — because every young person in our borough deserves a future rooted in safety, promise, and peace.

I extend my deepest condolences to her family, and we hold them in our hearts during this unimaginable time.
