AIKEN, S.C. () – On Sunday, July 20, a silent demonstration took place at a government building in Aiken to shed light on a violent conflict occurring in southern Syria.

The demonstration was organized by a group of local Syrians who aimed to highlight the clash between two religious factions. They emphasize that this conflict has led to many innocent bystanders, including their own relatives, becoming victims. They are urging the U.S. government to take more action.

“There’s no electricity, and I can’t communicate with my family. We only receive a text message from them every couple of days, just letting us know they’re safe, and that’s all the information we have,” explained Lujain Abusaada, one of the silent protestors.

“It’s very important for us to bring their stories for the world to see what’s happening in Syria,” said Khalid Abusaada, a silent protestor.

Last week, the Trump Administration outlined a plan to help Syria rebuild after the fall of previous President Bassar Al-Assad’s regime in December.
