CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA)– A little rain did not stop Curtis Orchard and Pumpkin Patch from opening its doors for the season over the weekend.

On Sunday, the orchard unveiled its fresh appearance, introducing an activities area that includes two new mazes, lawn games, and a basketball shoot out. Additionally, the orchard’s 125-year-old barn received a makeover with a sleek new steel exterior.

This year, the orchard brought back its Play-All-Day wristbands, which gives people more value for their money, according to the orchard’s owners.

Randy Graham, Curtis Orchard co-owner, has been part of the business for 45 years and is excited for another season.

“While we’re busy behind the scenes, this is a perfect opportunity for the community to unwind, enjoy a donut or a cider slush, and create lasting relationships and friendships,” Graham mentioned.

He said their crops are having a great season. The apples will be ready to pick this week, while the pumpkins will be ready in mid-September.

The Flying Monkey Cafe will open Labor Day weekend. Their hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
